Day OFF – Price, UT!

After three 20 mile days – we are loving and soaking up a day off here in Price. As we relish the beautiful landscapes of Utah I am continually reminded that we are SO fortunate to still be healthy and well taken care of by supporters & locals along the way. This ‘walk across America’ goes well beyond the physical challenges and triumphs – it is a constant exploration of mind, body, soul, spirit & earth. There is nothing more beautiful than the: curious & encouraging smile of a local - hard winds dancing w/piercing colors during a sunset/sunrise - euphoric feeling when the sock comes off while lying down after a long day’s walk…

On another the note, the video below was taken about 5 minutes before a young kid threw a large green slime bomb on me. It came up from the ground and my imagination told me that he was laughing and screaming as he passed by “Bob” & I at 65 mph. A few seconds of awkward silence and screaming, I came back to earth and realized Bob’s left rear tire exploded w/the green ‘puncture prevention’ slime. Fun. I enjoyed a very ‘heated’ 15 minutes of pumping, filling, and maneuvering cheap ‘shopping-mall trycycle tires’ on the Bob to ‘hopefully’ get me into Price – I will look for stronger one’s this afternoon!

Okay – enough blabbing. I am also roping you all into a trench of thought in my video – so be careful – and cover your children’s ears as I quickly and ‘mindfully’ vent in frustration towards a driver…
…we finally made it: Price, UT

Woke up fighting the comforts of my warm sleeping bag to very cold winds – actually pulled out the long johns! (first time since Maryland in March). We tackled another long 20 mile day – passed by hundreds of semi-trucks and enjoyed the comfortable company of the Book Cliffs. SO PROUD of my cousin Matt who contiues to battle the open roads w/me – blisters and all. He has trekked over 400 miles now!

Talked to several curious locals today as we actually moved through Wellington & Price, UT. It was close to heaven walking into Holiday Inn in Price. SO THANKFUL to them (and Teri Finan) for helping us out tonight!

Will upload pictures & video tomorrow from local library.

Cheers for now,

20 miles (goal) today – 2067 miles total!

Considering we are back in the great Utah wilderness, I figured I would update from our first stopping point while I have service. We are tackling our first of three days on hwy 6 towards Price, UT. It is SO beautiful having the San Rafael Swell to our left and the Book Cliffs to our right.

We had such an amazing time in Moab & Green River and are so thankful to ALL of those that helped us along the way!

Please check our our lending team and get involved (see JOIN NOW on sidebar)

Okaaaay…onwards – another 17 miles to go!

Cheers,

Day OFF – Moab, UT

Another day of rest here in BEAUTIFUL Moab! We enjoyed the company of TeriAnn Tibbetts last night w/her friends on her wonderfully artistic property – w/blue cheese burgers, a few beers and quality conversation… finishing with a cool night sleeping under the stars. Blessings continued as we met up with recent hosts: Bill & Jane Schroeder from Delta, CO who drove up to help us get into Green River tomorrow. We ventured off into Canyonland country – spectacular – another monumental paradise in SE Utah.

We will be taking off from Green River, UT tomorrow morning and potentially out of touch again for another three days as we make our way towards Price. There is nothing for water, food and/or plug-ins for 60 miles via hwy 6 – so we will see what happens along the way!

Here are a couple videos & pictures from last night & today:

DAY OFF – Moab, UT

Color – wind – rock – open sky – stars – and a string of seeking spirits: searching, vacationing, and flocking ‘together’ to share in what SE Utah has to offer.

This has been such an impressive and magnificent week walking into and through ‘wild’ Utah and eventually into Moab. From the very start my senses were overloaded with imagery captivating all my attention. Unique visitors and locals honked, waved, and opened their worlds to our arrival as we approached their valleys & canyons on-foot. I can’t say enough about how magical this stretch has been… and its nowhere near completion.

I can’t advocate enough for YOU (if you haven’t already) to take some intentional ‘soul-time’ out here via hwy 128 w/a pit stop in Moab – a great get-away & WELL worth your time… just don’t rush it!

I have been anxiously awaiting my ‘time’ at the local library to update and ‘rope’ you all back into our adventures. A hot stove cooking dry soups – donated ‘roadside’ wine – BLM desert camping – rafting the Colorado – and continued hospitality have carried us here and will fuel us for what is ahead …this is all so good. – all while watching our Kiva Walk Lending Team climb to 323 members w/over $278,000 in loans across the globe – beautiful!!

Here are a few videos & photos from our time on the road these past few days!
