18 miles today – 1560 miles total!
Garden City, KS (Holcomb) – Lakin, KS

A PERFECT morning of cool breezes and cloud cover for our first 10 miles into Deerfield, KS. I was SO fortunate to have the company of Laurie Tyler (Holcomb local). We enjoyed the wind, sights, and open road all while having great conversation on all-things family, interests, faith, and evolving ‘bucket lists’. I can’t even BEGIN to explain how refreshing it is to have people take a day – a week – or an hour to walk with us. You have SO much uninterrupted time to not only get to know one another, but to take-in your environment around you ‘together’.

We enjoyed lunch w/Karen Pitner-Luckett at a local cafe in Deerfield and I went on to finish the walk into Lakin, KS. OHHHHH do I have a story for you all. I need to get this on video – b/c you need to hear my vocal inflections as I share it with you – its classic….haha. Let’s just say it has something to do with Lucky’s (Karen’s husband) Jambalaya dish last night!

Here are some pictures from yesterday & today!

BY FAR one of the highlights today - I still cannot believe this. I kid you not those horns are real - NO joke - truly unbelievable!

ahhh, such a beautiful background & I liked the sign... rough paint/gun shots...unique, artistic, blah...

THANK YOU Laurie Tyler for joining me today! - YOU DID GREAT!

Kansas state flower: Sun Flower - yeah - dang.... (taken yesterday)

Cool path off hwy 50 heading into Lakin, KS - Sante Fe Trail tracks (old Mexican/USA border)

THANK YOU Luckett family for taking care of us again tonight!
